2015 Country BBQ!

Although the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity annual Country BBQ has come and gone, the effects are still in motion. The barbeque is held on founder Norm Clements gorgeous horse farm in the country side. This day is dedicated to all of our wonderful families who often travel far to have one last day in the beautiful sunshine with each other. This year as they splashed on the sunscreen and stretched their legs, the BBQ was unfolding…

The day started off with a bang during our annual walk-a-thon; children hopped, skipped, smiled, jumped, danced, or ran their way around the track. Our fabulous DJ, Michael, kept the energy going as the big red trolley began its journey down the hill. As families laughed their way down back, the magic of Candy Land twinkled around them. Music, dancing, and sugar started right away! There were plenty of sugary treats to go around, as well as delicious food for even the pickiest of eaters. The IMG_3047aevent included a candy station, popcorn, ice cream, snow cones, chocolate, and candy floss. The fantastic lunch menu was compiled of hot dogs, burgers, an amazing variety of salads and even corn on the cob! As for things to do, you name it. There were plenty of inflatable games, bouncers, and sports to choose from, but if that was not enough you could try your luck at Bingo, the fish pond, or any of the six carnival games! Included in the candy themed games (like the Lollipop Toss, King Kandy says, and the Ice Cream Scoop Relay) was our Sugar Plumb Dunk! This dunk tank that was generously donated for the day was a huge hit! The barbeque did have everything, including face painting and a balloonist! There was something for everyone at the annual BBQ this year. We appreciate all of the donations, volunteers, and support that we receive every year! Only 310 days left until next year’s BBQ – see you under the sea!
