What the heck is Giving Tuesday?
“Imagine a day dedicated to giving back … around the world, across Canada and in your own community! Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season.”
This year Giving Tuesday is December 1st, 2015.
What does it really mean to give back? It’s simple; giving back is lending a hand or spreading love to anyone in need. So if it’s that simple, why do we need a whole day dedicated to it?
The holidays have become a time of spending and purchasing. Giving Tuesday was declared in 2012 to remind people in this busy season with sales and markdowns, that it is better to give than to receive. There are many ways to help this giving season like, cleaning up, adopting from an animal shelter, supporting a cause, supporting an individual, or even making someone smile.
JACC is once again participating in this campaign, hosted until December 31st, 2015. Funds raised will help seriously ill children living with life-limiting conditions across Ontario, with expenses surrounding their illnesses.
It is our goal to raise $200,000 by December 31st and help 200+ children and their families when they are in Crisis. Your gift will provide:
- Emergency rent & utilities
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Accommodations while child is hospitalized
- Medications & medical supplies not covered
- Therapies and much more….
Great News! Your gift will be matched. A loyal supporter of JACC has offered to match the first $100,000 in donations received by December 31st! This means that your donation of $25 becomes $50; $50 becomes $100… You can even ask your employer if they have a matching gifts program and that would QUADRUPLE your gift! What an incredible ripple effect!
